Moët toasts
the best sommelier of the world

A long-time partner of the Best Sommelier of the World competition, Moët & Chandon takes great pleasure in congratulating this year’s winner, Paolo Basso.  Representing Switzerland, Mr. Basso was chosen from among 54 top sommeliers from around the globe and awarded the first prize, a dazzling silver trophy in the shape of a Moët & Chandon jeroboam. A tri-annual event organized by the Association de la Sommellerie Internationale (ASI), the 14th edition of the competition was held in Tokyo’s legendary Imperial Hotel from March 26-30, 2013.

Toasting the event in high style, Moët & Chandon hosted a red-carpet champagne dinner during the Tokyo gathering, with food and wine pairings by Shinya Tasaki, Best Sommelier of the World 1995 and current president of the ASI. The House will also be inviting Mr. Basso and other guests to celebrate his triumph at the historic Moët & Chandon estates in Epernay, France.

Moët & Chandon has been partnering with the ASI to celebrate the world’s finest sommeliers in glamorous style since 1989.
